Zing didn't start with a business plan. It started on a restaurant floor — during a dinner rush, short-staffed, with a manager on the phone and a full house that had no idea how close things were to falling apart. That night proved something needed to change.

Toronto. 2019. Three restaurants and a problem.

We launched with three Toronto restaurants that were willing to try something different. Instead of last-minute group chats and desperate social media posts, we built a structured process: assessed workers, transparent profiles, two-way accountability.

Then COVID hit. The 75+ restaurants we'd signed went to zero overnight. The industry we were building for nearly disappeared. We survived because a handful of loyal partners — restaurants that had seen what Zing could do — stayed with us through the worst of it.

Five years later, we've facilitated over 15,000 shifts. We've built an assessment system validated by real hospitality data, not theory. We've watched Teammates go from their first shift to full-time hires. And we've learned something that most tech companies never will: in hospitality, the person is the product.
